Rise up: A Story Through Movement - Kathy Tan (Performer)

Meet Kathy Tan, a survivor, seasoned leadership and life coach, and visionary founder of Amalu Coaching, LLC based in Los Angeles, CA. With a mission to empower change and create safe spaces for loved ones of abuse in the Asian American Pacific Islander community and beyond, her journey is a unique blend of passion and purpose; aiming to empower others through her own journey of self-reclamation. As a social entrepreneur with a Master's in Social Entrepreneurship & Change and a Bachelor’s in Psychology, Kathy guides individuals on their journey toward healing, growth, and thriving. Certified as a domestic violence peer counselor, she envisions expanding Amalu Coaching's impact by bringing healing through arts interventions to Los Angeles. An 8-year dancer from high school through college, Kathy's upcoming piece is an unfiltered expression of vulnerability, acceptance, and joy.

Launched in 2023,  pro.claim is Self-Reclaimed’s Community Night, where we honor the courageous expression of our community of survivors who proclaim their individual stories of reclamation through a performance showcase and intimate art gallery.

The survivors who perform for the evening have taken part in a 3-month expressive arts healing program, reclaim your story , where they explore reclaiming their stories:

from victim, to survivor, to healer.​
